Snow Blower Winter?!!!
ABOUT TIME!
Bought a massive snow blower a couple of years ago, and have been able to use it infrequently. Worse, the snows the past few years have not been large enough to prevent going to work in downtown DC, and resulted in my wife and my neighbor using it to clear snow...
This winter will be different!
Now self employed, i get to set the agenda for the day!

democracy declining
Universal ignorance, has resulted in a significant portion of the population who no longer values individual liberties. Values being inculcated to and desired by our youth are limited to the latest thrill, mind altering substance and copulation. Not limited to the youth, I was recently at lunch with a co-worker who said that if he was a woman, he would have sex with anything that moved, and didn't understand why more women weren't of the same opinion.
Dr Walter E Williams has an interesting video available on the internet that shows a three pronged approach has succeeded in altering the taxonomy of our inner cities: 1) poor public education, 2) minimum wage, and 3) welfare have combined to keep the poor dependent on government with limited ability to get out. This enslavement has expanded to larger portions of the country and we are rapidly approaching the culminating point.
I have another friend who has decided that he is 'unwilling to read anything written by someone who is living' ... the implications that the writer must be able to pass the test of time to determine worth. Milton Friedman now falls into this category, and his 10 episode series on the free market and individual liberties is remarkable for it's insight (1980's with limited revision in 1990's) saw encroaching federal government legislation and regulation as significant problem. Today's bailout, Health care, and Cap & Tax are the culminating point.
Action is required - today. I will be at the Sep 12th march on Congress in DC, I hope you will too!

Health & Death Panels
I am not sanguine that any approach will allow for in person appeal After all, in order to have a realistic approach, information (morbidity factors, current and expected quality of life) will need to weighed in a scientific manner. The panels begin to meet in person, but case load soon requires virtual meetings and virtual votes. Favorable decisions seem to carry the day in early decision making. As cost implications begin to be impressed upon the panel, the percentage of favorable decisions begins a steady decline.
I am reminded of a scene from “The Incredibles” where the erstwhile hero (Bob Parr - Mr Incredible) after a series of unfortunate and humiliating events is forced to go underground and after a series of jobs is seen working at an insurance company. He is routinely berated by a diminutive overbearing boss at an unusually high percentage of insurance claims by Bob Parr’s clients being paid. The big bad insurance company’s one objective is to make money, usually at the expense of their clients.
Initially this seems to fit in with the kenyan’s desire for a public option, it misses the mark and would better describe a government approach where there is no appeal, and no free market for individuals to shop for health insurance. We are considered too stupid to know what we really need, and that is why we need particularly bright and intelligent people to run the health care (and our lives) for us. This tendency towards totalitarianism is particularly insidious in an environment of ever growing government and ever increasing ‘rights’ being read into a document by legislatures and the courts. Socialism (as in National Socialists of Germany after WWI - NAZIs in case you haven’t made the connection) used this very same approach and were ardent health food, anti-smoking, anti-fat in their approach and pushed it on the population as they were doing it for the best of the people and their country. Beginning to sound familiar?
Universal health care, while desirable, results in loss of freedom. Freedom to chose (or not to chose) the health care the individual desires, and to live with the consequences of that decision. Government intrusion into free markets always distorts the market place and results in increased costs, less care (rationed) and enslavement of the populace through taxation.

Dead, but still Distorted
DEATH: It is nice to hear that the public option is close to death, but no one should confuse today's headlines with a permanent demise the public option deserves. I was able to listen to Ronald Reagan's discussion of public health care over the weekend, and this issue has been one the fascist left has been pushing for nearly 100 years! It will continue to be pushed as long as there are statists (fascists, progressives, liberals - pick your poison).
I finally began to read "Ten Books That Screwed Up the World" by Benjamin Wiker this past weekend. It begins with a discussion of Machiavelli's "The Prince." Written in the 16th century, it has laid the groundwork for western cultural demise through its elimination of God an the consequences of His existence through the promotion of evil (not for evil's sake), but when necessary to achieve some good. The author's point in selecting this as the first book is two: 1) "...to embrace the notion that it is not only permissible but also laudable to do evil so that good might come, one must reject God, the soul and the afterlife." This rejection of Christianity removes all constraint on those in authority. But Machiavelli did not propose the elimination of God where appropriate to push ideas, as it is important for the populace to think the prince is 'god fearing' so that they never get close enough to see the actual person the prince is. We know that "Christianity ties our hands by moral rules - backed up by the imaginary stick and carrot of hell and heaven- so that we cannot do the necessary dirty work."
The elimination of Christianity for the market place of ideas has been the goal of statists (fascists, progressives, liberals) so that a greater good can be imposed. In line with Machiavelli's "The end justifies the means," the kenyan wraps his ideas up in religious terms, extolling the virtues of some greater good (universal health care) while hiding the simple truth that imposing universal health care will enslave the entire population of the United States. Enslaved though ever increasing tax burden. Like the plantation owners and company store owners of our past, federal gnomes will tell us what we can and cannot do.
DISTORTION: During my uniformed days, I was talking with some detailers at the Navy's Bureau of Personnel (BUPERS - they tell sailors where they will be stationed) about a problem i was having in getting sailor's to sign up for my area. I sought to have a special incentive ($$) put in place, as there was an increasing need for a special skill set and a decreasing population of skilled sailors. I was told that BUPERS was reluctant to do what i wanted because that distorts the manpower assignment process, causing second and third order problems that we could not see until much later. Similarly, during the early days of general public outrage over government imposed health care, It was interesting to hear that while 'cash for clunkers' was perceived as successful, the market place had distorted to where the population chose to spend money on a new car instead of making other purchases. Medicare and Medicaid have similarly distorted the health care marketplace. Doctors are forced to make up for low public payments by charging paying customers more. Higher costs of health care pushed more people into the publicly funded fold. Increased cost to the taxpayers has resulted increased taxes on those who are earning.
Legal giants who channel dead babies (i.e., the breck girl) have also distorted the health care (and others I'm sure) marketplace forcing to pay ever increasing malpractice insurance costs and perform ever increasing and unnecessary tests/procedures to forestall a lawsuit. Recently Governor Haley Barber of Mississippi had a commentary where they had pushed through tort reform in MS and achieved a tremendous reduction in health care costs.
NOW IS THE TIME TO PUT AN END TO UNCONSTITUTIONAL GOVERNMENT CONTROL OVER OUR LIVES. The messiah wants a discussion, lets continue taking it to our elected representatives. If they will not listen, then the ballot box is our ability to show displeasure. Let's be cautious, we are seeing the real stripes of our elected representatives. Do not let their chameleonic abilities hide an arrogant nature which has revealed itself recently in attempts to impose a utopia through the enslavement of americans. Government should be small and responsive to the people. It is time to reinvigorate the Constitution and its role in governing what each of the branches of government can and cannot do.

My gut reaction to seeing Hugo & Barack tied at the hip against the ouster of the Honduran President meant it was a good thing...Democracy in action...Who would have thought the tiny nation of Honduras could teach us something!
America No Longer Stands for Freedom
It is hard to remain positive these days...keeping the news off as much as possible so I don’t have to hear: 1) the kenyan’s stilted speech patterns, 2) listen to drivel about how last week was significant in the passing of three pop icons, and people will remark in the future “what were you doing when Ed, Farrah and Michael passed away?” (on Christian radio no less...guess proximity to the DC beltway even adversely affects a biblical world view) and 3) listen to a “semen stained” media proselytize for progressive (a.k.a. fascist) policies and federal punishment of private industry and private individuals.
Opening the Wall Street Journal this morning, I said “Oh no” upon viewing the Honduran overthrow of its president. I quickly changed that to a “Oh, good) when looking more closely to see that both Venezuela and the United States were opposed to the exiling. Being on the same side of any issue as Hugo the magnificent can mean only one thing: we are on the wrong side. Completely missing was usual and expected self aggrandizing generalissimo who was now running his own banana republic. Instead, a politician was selected by the Honduran Congress to fulfill the remaining term the ousted president who was attempting to circumvent constitutional restraints (term limits) and hold an illegal referendum (not allowed within 6 months of an election) to do so. We ought to be celebrating this moment. Over thrown by those who wish to retain democracy and freedom for the Honduran people. But, our erstwhile socialistic state department encouraged by our own friend of hugo have decided to side with the fascists.
This is a continuation of the path our President, the African Colonial Potentate (c.f., L.E. Ikenga http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/06/obama_the_african_colonial.html), has embarked on to change what America (as in the United States) stands for from freedom to fascism. Not so subtly addressing the arab street and never mentioning freedom once, he has set the stage for a new America...one where “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” is replaced by a continual overreaching federal government that seeks to enslave a willing populace with
Democracy and freedom are breaking out all over despite our best efforts. Lebanon rejected Hezbollah (Syrian/Iranian funded) at the polls, Iranian’s are fighting a losing battle (and their lives) against the theocratic leader, Iraq continues on path to return to the Iraqi’s (just hope it is not too soon). And where is the leader of the free world? Enhancing his rock star image by visiting the little people (like getting ice cream in Alexandria), clearly frustrated that this past week has seen him rebuffed by freedom loving people across the world.
How long until we get some politicians with the hutzpah to stand against our own banana republic dictator who is seeking to destroy the strength of America though imposition of fascism? We certainly didn’t see it demonstrated in congress last week (solving global warming through cap & tax...err...trade).

Duh, where'd dey go?
Arrogant fascists think it's their money, not the hard working citizens who earned it. Cause and effect stupid...increase taxes and the rich move to where they can save their money to do the things they want to do, like save it, spend it, or hire employees to make more money. The idea that the rich use their money to make more money completely lost on the totalitarians. Their focus on the vapid self-aggrandizing Hollywood caste who waste their inheritances/earnings in excesses blinds them to what real hardworking Americans really do...make America work!
Liberal "trickle down stupidity" only ends in failure. Stupid lawmakers advised by stupid economists to increase taxes - taxpayers with the ability to move away do so and take their tax dollars, companies and jobs with them - leaving those stupid enough to believe the class envy bologna and encourage the lawmakers with a state on the verge of failing. If California is too big to fail (and is), where does that place Maryland?
While Virginia income taxes (5.75) are not a walk in the park, they are lower than Maryland (6.5). So all you Maryland millionaires, COME ON DOWN!

Canaries
Liberal fascists have been fleecing the people for so long that those with any sense or money have long left. Similar to Sergei Petrov's remarks on the Russian populace: "the gene pool has been stripped of the intelligent by the revolution, Lenin and Stalin. Now all they understand is the jackboot on their necks..." The will of the California people has been repeatedly thwarted by a radical judiciary and a political class keeping the welcome mat out for illegals and handouts flowing. Willingly sold into slavery by themselves, the remaining people of these once great states are numb to reality of their situation. The Obama Media Choir is doing all it can to make those who are not numb feel guilty.
The kenyan and the grandma are doing all they can to turn this grat country into a hell hole of self loathing and dependency.

What happens when you treat your best friends like crap? Those on the periphery no longer think you are willing to help…so they make decisions based on their own self interest, and not on mutual interest…so here is what the little old lady from Chappaqua said:

Guess what…the Taliban (democrat financial supporters of the last election) have taken whole new swaths of the Pakistani countryside that Benazir’s widower didn’t give to them…I recall something about an inch and mile relationship…
When you are only thinking about yourself, and not the country who elected you, anything can happen…and the bad part of anything usually does.
You can almost hear the Kenyan now: “Golly SGT Carter” or maybe it was “Did I do that?”

DC Tea Party
A great day in America. Grass roots electorate standing up. Like the old movie "Network," TV personality who said "I am mad an hell and I am not going to take it any more."
It was an extremely wet day in DC for the duration of the event. I showed up and as many people who were leaving were showing up. Most of us stayed. Overall attitude was very positive. People were talking to one another because the speaker system the organizers brought was less than adequate. BUT IT DIDN'T MATTER! Everyone was happy to be there, and the folks I talked to expressed a concern for the direction of the country. The presence of legal immigrants (and naturalized citizens) who saw America as the last best hope for the world was exceptinally uplifitng.
I was very surprised to find in my proximity a Cuban Exile, a elderly German woman who grew up in the Wiemar Republic, and an older woman who grew up in central Europe. Others there, were a former Marine (and family), an ex-Navy guy and myself. WOW, sentiments ranged from we must fix this now (German and Central European) to we have a solid foundation in the Constitution (Cuban and the rest of us). The central European related that something similarly happened in here country, and in the course of 6 months all freedoms were taken away (she sees us on the same path - and to be honest, if the kenyan has his way we would do the same). I remarked in an earlier blog, that we were printing money faster than anyone has seen or imagined before, and later I remembered from my childhood stamp collecting days the stamps that had been marked over (inflated) due the the Germans printing Money. The German woman relayed that she remembers her mother taking a wheel barrel full of money to go grocery shopping for the day.
Whether or not the kenyan gets away with it is up to us...each one of us. we must NOW contact our elected representatives and tell them to 1) commit to the Constitution as our bedrock for the country, 2) denounce the executive, congressional and judiciary extra-constitutional behaviors, 3) stop printing money, and 4) balance the federal budget for 2010 using realistic planning figures (CBO would be acceptable), and 5) cease government intrusion into the private sector.
America is the last best hope for this world...lets work together to restore the "shining city on a hill."

Of Pirates and Pirating
Yelling at the idiot box (TV) just isn't helping anymore.
I was screaming at the television during a report by one news channel or another (probably Fox News) over our incompetent response to piracy on the high seas. We are calling them criminals. They have not yet risen to the level of being a criminal. International Law is clear that Piracy (along with slavery) is a crime against humanity, and all ships at sea are obligated to act to correct. So now we have a bunch of pirates in a liferaft with upwards of three navy ships in proximity. I saw a brief by a young captain the other day who had returned from the Horn of Africa, where we (the Navy) were standing off of the coast monitoring their behavior. We knew where they lived, how they got to sea and other pertinent facts that could be translated into ordnance on target, but we chose not to. Last year, the Indian Navy (not exactly a tier 1 naval power) successfully engage some pirates to rescue their interest. With exception, that has been about it for something other than monitoring the pirates. I heard a story from a friend that knew the CO of a Navy destroyer, who observed pirates engaged in pirating and was within range to adversely affect the action, only to be told no by the theater commander. These at sea follies are not solely limited to our current administration, but began under “wimpy George's” son, President #43. Compassionate conservatism at its finest!
During a press conference with some petty potentate from Morocco, HRC has cackled at the pirate situation, citing how successful diplomacy previously resulted in Morocco being one of the first countries to recognize the United States. As long as she still considers attacking the pirates to be diplomacy we can agree. I really doubt it.
Our captain has been taken hostage by pirates. I know a thing or two about captaining...blessed by God and honored by the United States to command two separate ships of the line: USS EXCEL (MSO 439) and USS CALLAGHAN (DDG 994). The captain provides the expectations, guidance and when necessary, discipline to the crew, so that the mission can be performed. The kenyan (a.k.a. Citizen of the World in Chief) said in words given him by TOTUS (Teleprompter Of The United States) to say that we need to change the country (c.f., all stump speeches). This means we will implement social justice and restore equality of outcome (to everyone except the pigs (fascists) and their dog enforcers (media)) so that we can all live happy meaningful lives...IN SLAVERY! Printing money faster than a congressman with an intern (I am fed up with the spending money like a drunken sailor that our congressional enslavers like to use), our country is being driven into debt levels that the world has never seen, heard of or could possibly imagine. All as a means to not “waste a good crisis” and implement fascist policies (all modern liberal policies are fascist) and remake this great country.
So the captain that has been taken hostage, is the Constitution of the United States. No longer do we believe that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life liberty and the pursuit of happiness (yes, I know that is from the Declaration of Independence) the foundation that drives each of us to whatever level of success we desire to achieve. As Mark Levin says in his new book “Liberty and Tyranny”: “...the dignity of the individual that we, as human beings have a right to live, liver freely, and pursue that which motivates us not because man or some government says so, but because these are God-given natural rights.” It is the individual that makes the United States great, not a a race, religion or creed. When we divide ourselves up by those external non-qualities, we begin to enslave ourselves.
The smooth talking kenyan (only when TOTUS is present) seeks to convince us to take the next step and believe in him. Like a good magician, he focuses your attention on one hand while the other performs the sleight of hand...what we are not watching is printing presses working overtime, upheaval (reversal) of direction in the world stage, neutering of the military and military capability necessary to defend our homeland. What we do not see, yet, is action to shut down dissent in the United States. It cannot be far off.
Like his fellow countrymen at sea in a disabled liferaft, the kenyan pirate in chief, and the left is pirating our liberties. They have taken the Constitution hostage, and we are doing nothing about it. The voices of the people can no longer be silent.

Will I at least get kissed this time?
Well, we are half way through the honeymoon, but I'm not “feeling the love.” Like a saudi prince enjoying western decadence; finds a western woman who believes his lies and perhaps wants his money, is willing to convert, and is then forced to put on a burkha and live in the harem with all the other stupid women (chattel); American's bought into Change and Hope, only to be told to put their Hope in effete tax cheats running this country and expected to Change the congressional alimentary canal diaper...unconstrained appetite on one end, and irresponsible on the other. Presidential full frontal progressive policy nudity (despite the best pectorals ever in a president the fawning media tells us) is beginning to look less like a lover and more like a combination flasher pervert and pickpocket.
While treating our best ally like a two-bit hooker, the president has unilaterally traded away our defense (TBMD in Europe) for nothing to get concessions from a bunch of communist gangsters. Whether the world liked us or not, they respected our strength under President Bush. The world is now laughing at us: North Koreans are preparing to launch missiles, PLA-N is harassing our unarmed research vessels (Pueblo anyone?) on the high seas, petty potentates (Syria) is telling us to deal directly with terrorist groups (Hamas & Hezbollah).
News from the pentagon isn't encouraging either. Navy is giving up an aircraft carrier and an air wing (not that we will need it with all of the love the world has for us these days), Air Force is being told to forgo tankers for another five years (good thing we still have all those aircraft carriers) and cancel new bomber plans, Army Future Combat Systems is in the cross hairs, and our joint Ballistic Missile Defense program is not long for this world.
Left media cheering section retorts of: "Have your taxes gone up?" or "What has the President done that you like?" are interesting but red herrings in this debate.
Like the college (or high school) senior scoring as many freshman girls as possible, he keeps going out on the TV and tells us how much he loves us while having his way. My guess is we are pregnant...perhaps not showing it yet, but fully pregnant none the less. The stock market continues to vote a resounding NO. This baby will come to term and deliver...similar to the movie teaser from a 70's horror flick...”there is only one thing wrong with the Davis (Obama) baby, it's alive.” Someone has to do something about this thing (pay the tax bill) when it finally arrives.
This isn't very comforting, particularly since prophylactics cannot stop AIDS transmission, so in addition to being pregnant, we may also be terminal.

The messiah continues his assault on the Constitution, Federalism, Taxpayers, and Morality.
During a short operational pause from spending our grandchildren's money to allow for congress to catch up (although there appear to be enough RINO turncoats look to end that pause and pass the rest of the federal budget tomorrow). A second front has been opened in order to spend more of our money - WAIT, maybe it's not an operational pause after all - today another far left position was couched in 'Reagan-esque' language. This time, the unborn are directly in his sights. He dramatically expanded Bush limited government effort (no limits on private effort - it just doesn't work, so there is no significant private effort) to one that allows for everything and everything, all at tax payer expense. Unfortunately, cloning specifically remains on the table...
Not wasting a crisis, OB envisioned progressive (had to get it in at least once) government continues to expand, with the strategic goal of moving into every corner of our lives and making us dependent (slaves in a Nanny State 'matrix'). I just want to know how he did it without an "off site" this time? I wonder if they do the obligatory team building exercises at presidential off sites?
Where can we find a model for government action that works each and every time it is tried? The Gipper of course! And, in a speech from 1964 no less.

Why are they yelling at me?
I really don’t like being yelled at, particularly when I have done nothing to deserve it. Worse, it is extremely distasteful when it’s the President of the
The situation reminded me of two images: 1) The story of a preacher, while preparing a sermon put a notes in the margin that said “Raise voice and pound the pulpit here, the point is weak; and 2) The dictator in the move “V for Vendetta” who used fear of terrorism as the unifying factor to impose a (progressive) fascist state and keep the people in line. Rahm Emmanuel’s “Never waste a good crisis” is being acted out, and Americans are being berated by the President with a Media echo chamber / cheering section doing everything they can to ensure that we and future generations of Americans are enslaved to create wealth and keep the left permanently in power.
We are rapidly moving towards fulfillment of two futuristic images of the future. “1984” portray a patriarchal world where big brother is watching and “Brave new World” portrays a matriarchal one where the state is a nanny for the people providing all good things. Naturally we will probably have a mixture of the two. “V for Vendetta” foreshadows our current situation with the President scaring us in to believing that without enactment of the bailout, we will have an economic collapse. Meanwhile, congressional sleight of hand in the bailout is sending lots and lots of money ($1.5 trillion is the new anticipated total) to organizations that hate America and wish to remake it in a utopian image that removes individual freedom and impose a super welfare state where we are dependent on the central government for everything.
So, when you are listening to all of the progressive talking heads on TV, ask ‘why are they raising their voices to make a point? Are they afraid of a debate? Or perhaps, like the preacher, their “point is weak.” All this “change” is giving me “hope” that Americans will not tolerate it for long.

Clash of Civilizations
International law centered around a western perspective as detailed in the "law of armed conflict" and various Geneva accords seek to protect the vulnerable during war. In this world view, a civilian population should not have to worry about either side acting inappropriately. Western protection of civilians includes restricting use of hospitals, schools, and places of worship for military purposes is ridiculed in Arabic placement of arms and installations in and in proximity to these sites. This intentional hazarding of innocent civilians in order to score "PR Points" with the west is reprehensible.
International law is not limited to what has been codified. What is practiced also has a component of legality. While the west considers some Arabic approaches reprehensible, they are not necessarily illegal, only another event that is added to the weight of practical international law. As we see in all wars, the winner makes the rules and in this real sense, might makes right.
My favorite movie, Henry V, highlights the difference in that Harry routinely offered to limit attack and provided protection of the population during war in France. This western approach lacks effectiveness in fighting different civilizations. Even our treatment of enemy combatants in GTMO hearkens back to a value in life. Evil considers valuing life to be weakness.
Arabic use of suicide bombers, including women and children; random rocketing of the landscape demonstrates an intent to bleed a "weak western culture" of the will to fight and use progressives in the EU/US to pressure and thus neuter offensive ability. Certainly expectation of an enemy to march out into the field in nice neat lines for the slaughter is not appropriate. They are limited in their options. Israeli desire to stand side by side with a Palestinian state that respects an Israeli right to exist is well known. It is this very right that is opposed through Arabic civilization continued stated desire to push Israel into the sea.
Western useful idiots, our progressives on the left, have an unnatural infatuation of cultures and "-isms" that are inimical to the very culture which brought them into being and assures their ability to speak out. A run to the media to denounce justifiable western self defensive action is the result of cognitive dissonance resolved in their warped thinking through a loathing of the United States and all it stands for.
Might does make right. Without moral imperative found in valuing life and the physical strength to bear it up, a degenerate view of freedom will become the norm. A strong western defense of culture will restore the weight of international law to one that respects human life. We should support Israel and aid in the military defeat of Hamas in order to establish adn maintain peace in the middle east.
