Assault on America - Day 85
A great day in America. Grass roots electorate standing up. Like the old movie "Network," TV personality who said "I am mad an hell and I am not going to take it any more."
It was an extremely wet day in DC for the duration of the event. I showed up and as many people who were leaving were showing up. Most of us stayed. Overall attitude was very positive. People were talking to one another because the speaker system the organizers brought was less than adequate. BUT IT DIDN'T MATTER! Everyone was happy to be there, and the folks I talked to expressed a concern for the direction of the country. The presence of legal immigrants (and naturalized citizens) who saw America as the last best hope for the world was exceptinally uplifitng.
I was very surprised to find in my proximity a Cuban Exile, a elderly German woman who grew up in the Wiemar Republic, and an older woman who grew up in central Europe. Others there, were a former Marine (and family), an ex-Navy guy and myself. WOW, sentiments ranged from we must fix this now (German and Central European) to we have a solid foundation in the Constitution (Cuban and the rest of us). The central European related that something similarly happened in here country, and in the course of 6 months all freedoms were taken away (she sees us on the same path - and to be honest, if the kenyan has his way we would do the same). I remarked in an earlier blog, that we were printing money faster than anyone has seen or imagined before, and later I remembered from my childhood stamp collecting days the stamps that had been marked over (inflated) due the the Germans printing Money. The German woman relayed that she remembers her mother taking a wheel barrel full of money to go grocery shopping for the day.
Whether or not the kenyan gets away with it is up to us...each one of us. we must NOW contact our elected representatives and tell them to 1) commit to the Constitution as our bedrock for the country, 2) denounce the executive, congressional and judiciary extra-constitutional behaviors, 3) stop printing money, and 4) balance the federal budget for 2010 using realistic planning figures (CBO would be acceptable), and 5) cease government intrusion into the private sector.
America is the last best hope for this world...lets work together to restore the "shining city on a hill."
